MIDWEST INSTITUTE of PARK EXECUTIVES

107 Mohawk Trail, Buffalo Grove, Illinois 60089
Date: March 26, 2021
The April 8 joint IPRA/MIPE meeting will be held via zoom dealing with weather preparedness for outdoor events, presented by the National Weather Service. The meeting will begin at 9:00 AM and is being coordinated by IPRA. MIPE members will need to register IN ADVANCE through the IPRA website at ilipra.org, under the “learn” tab. If you are not an IPRA member or do not have a current account, you will need to create a free basic account to register (see “create a new account” under “sign in.”) If you need assistance logging into your account, please contact Kim Laper, IPRA Education & Events Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once registered, IPRA will send out the zoom link on Wednesday, April 7th. The event should be posted soon.
Planning for weather hazards is a critical part of planning for any outdoor event. Participants will explore the various elements that should be included in a hazardous weather plan and become familiar with the various weather planning and monitoring tools available from the National Weather Service. This interactive session will take users through these tools as well as those that are part of the DuPage County OHSEM Event Ready toolkit via a simulated weather event, to become familiar with and put these tools into practice in an exercise setting. Participants will learn about NWS products and services, discover tools to make informed decisions, and become aware of the importance of having an event weather safety plan, including the calculation of the time needed to alert and evacuate/shelter attendees.
Short IPRA and MIPE business meetings will follow the NWS presentation at about 11:40 AM.
Pre-registration through MIPE is not required for this event, only through IPRA.
